An Elegant Memorial Day Estate Wedding || Davidsonville, MD

It’s rare that a real wedding is as beautiful as a styled editorial, but Catherine and Kyle’s wedding is every bit as stunning! Coordinated and designed by Social Graces Events, this couple’s big day looks like it’s straight out of a magazine! Held at the bride’s family’s estate on Memorial Day Weekend, the couple opted for elegant details like picture perfect invitations by Little Bit Heart to stunning florals by Little House of Flowers. We’re so excited to share some of their gorgeous photos below! Be sure to keep any eye out for fave pieces like our Dupont Whitewashed Farm Tables, a super chic sweetheart set-up, and our Evangeline Pews!

Statement Wedding Jewelry and Accessories

Statement Wedding Jewelry and Accessories

We are all about statement pieces for brides.  A bold necklace, a vintage hairpiece, or a cute birdcage veil will showcase your individual style and make your look on your wedding day unique.

Beautiful statement necklaces work well with strapless gowns or deep plunging necklines.  I love the ones with color, it’s definitely a bold choice that people will notice.
A birdcage or blusher veil is an elegant way to add a vintage vibe to your wedding attire.  That’s my veil on the top left!
Crystals, beads, fabric and feathers – depending on the texture you want complimenting your hair and style – you’ll have ample choices to pick from.

One tip, looking on eBay for necklaces, hair clips, or broaches is a great way to find unique, high quality statement pieces at often a fraction of the cost of high end retailers.  Trying searching “estate necklace” or “antique broach” to find some great scores.  It can be hard to find just the right piece, but once you do, all of your endless scouring will be worth it.

Chartreuse: Wedding Inspiration

Chartreuse: Wedding Inspiration

It’s no secret that avocado green (or it’s brighter counterpart: chartreuse) is not every ones favorite color. Trying to throw an event with a color name foreign to some can be extremely challenging. Brides that dig this retro shade usually have a hard time getting friends, family, and vendors on board with their unique vision.
We’ve put together a beautiful inspiration board above showing just how well this shade of green can work for your special day. While you know this (and we know this) now you need to convince the local baker to make you some “greenish, yellowish, darker than this, but lighter than that” fondant.
Save yourself the headache and take this board (or link) with you to all your wedding related meetings!

Finding the Perfect Blue Wedding Shoes

Finding the Perfect Blue Wedding Shoes

Blue shoes can be a great way to incorporate “something blue” into your wedding attire. Here are some tips to find the perfect pair for your big day.
Narrow your search when looking online by the most important criteria first. Too broad a search will overwhelm and too narrow a search will become frustrating. Allow yourself 2 or 3 non-negotiables (example: must be aqua and have a high heel), but after that keep the search (and your mind) open.  Great places to search are Shopstyle and Polyvore, which collect photos of top products.  Don’t forget international sites like Yoox that may have lesser known European brands- that’s where I found my aqua patent pumps!

Remember there are many shades of blue out there. Do you need a specific shade to match the decor? Maybe you don’t know quite yet, and that’s okay! We have shoes in cobalt, light, navy, and aqua already organized on our pinterest page. Try similar words in your search too (light blue can be described as baby, powder, turquoise, robin egg, angel, cyan, sky, and pastel).
Once you have an assortment of color appropriate shoes – the pair you pick should also complement the atmosphere of your wedding. At Something Vintage, we understand paying attention to small details like show color hard. Don’t give up though – it’ll be worth it in the end!
Here are some examples of lovely blue wedding shoes.
Badgley Mischka’s aqua blue satin pump is conservative (as it covers your entire foot) with a hit of sex appeal from the peep toe. Perfect for a Classic and Feminine Wedding.

Christian Louboutin’s Blanca Watersnake Pump is always a perfect 10, whether a barn wedding or at four star hotel.  How can you go wrong with a deep color and amazing texture like this?
Steve Madden’s cobalt blue satin pump has a sky high heel with rhinestones and a platform front. Perfect for a Trendy and Edgy Wedding.

Modcloth’s navy blue and white slingback heel screams 1940s with it’s peep toe and bow detail. Perfect for a Vintage Wedding.
Madden Girl’s aqua blue t-strap sandals with gold buckles and toe plate are light and airy. Perfect for a Beach Wedding.
Enzo Angiolini’s navy blue suede and glitter heels have a lot of character. Wearing these would be a cause for celebration! Perfect for a glamourous wedding.

Happy Hunting!
